Road Test

Road Test

I am currently experimenting with the roads around Pickering.
I am not happy with the roads that come with the railworks program and wondered if I could actually build a model of the roads and footpaths near to the station to make it look more authentic.  Initial tests seem to look ok. I am not sure yet how to get the cars running on the model. In tests I have simply moved the default road underneath the model surface but that is not ideal as it shows through when you zoom out to get the birds eye view. Perhaps I will be able to make a new road blueprint from the current ones but have the road surface invisible. We shall see.

Before the Blog

So what have I done before the blog.

I have pretty much learned the basics of creating a route in Railworks, I have decided that the route I'm going to model is the NYMR and I have started the process, importing the landscape, laying the track and attempted a few models of the buildings at Pickering railway station. I have made my intentions public by posting on the excellent UKTrainSim Website and got some positive responses.

I am also starting to build some of the houses that are outside the railway station. Not sure how many I will do but I'm guessing it will just be the main street outside and the one that crosses it. The rest of the houses/shops will be from the UKTS Freeware packs.
