<br />
We are still in Pickering. Been there for a visit and to take hundreds of Photos on 2 occasions over the last week or two. So how about the Sim. <br />
<br />
Things were delayed a bit due to a reinstall of windows on my computer but luckily nothing was lost, (Backups are a great thing aren't they). I have pretty much completed the detailed models on Bridge Street with the exception of Beck Isle Museum which is work in progress. I still intend to build some low detail models for houses and the church which are further away.Below you can see Memorial Hall and the war memorial. I decided it was important that users were able to read the names on the war memorial. <br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
Park street carries on. I guess I'm about three quarters the way along but the end is in sight. (Well it is if I strain to look round the slight bend in the road. Here are some shots.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I' also added a bit more lighting and street side accessories. Below you can see an odd shaped lamp post which I must have walked past a million times and never noticed the kink.<br />
<br />
<br />

<br /><br />
I have started to add street clutter and make some of the signs. they are still in development so I will upload those pics at a later date.<br />
<br />
That's it for now.<br />

I hadnt realised that the should all be sized to the power of 2. ie 1,2,4,8,16,32,64,128,256,512,1024 or 2048.<br />

Still in Pickering, my latest efforts have concentrated on Market place, Bridge Street and The Ropery. Below are a few images of the new buildings in railwoks.<br />
<br />
Firstly is the HSBC Bank which sits on the corner.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSIWZv2XHznVQBHzb7zWEwyhUJrVyusn6iDVQGhrjJJU7h8-YxId_ko5MMj_jzn6WVs8N4p8nbdBxuVGtbSIROd5hVd_VERhWreo3NsvjbVOSdD0duuDJLwTQ61Wbg10ZnIWbnA4B5t9g/s1600/HSBC.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="256" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSIWZv2XHznVQBHzb7zWEwyhUJrVyusn6iDVQGhrjJJU7h8-YxId_ko5MMj_jzn6WVs8N4p8nbdBxuVGtbSIROd5hVd_VERhWreo3NsvjbVOSdD0duuDJLwTQ61Wbg10ZnIWbnA4B5t9g/s400/HSBC.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Then we have the adjoining shops on Market Place<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgufacIGFet6bsmH-4orPFzlkDJhFHctxPwMJM4Vx7x5l4WmnMbQHTtxd51Pa_316hx7XeGlNDUz-VAB7zzt1r10d2CVa6tnXI18Og4ZUrPLcIn0hvLghs2v3izgIim0U3CcNpiDGZdfCM/s1600/Market+Place+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgufacIGFet6bsmH-4orPFzlkDJhFHctxPwMJM4Vx7x5l4WmnMbQHTtxd51Pa_316hx7XeGlNDUz-VAB7zzt1r10d2CVa6tnXI18Og4ZUrPLcIn0hvLghs2v3izgIim0U3CcNpiDGZdfCM/s400/Market+Place+1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJIcj4Zr1TiMtOjS98tzHfbTtJJPJGUpZ5aCvscqp_BbktX1Dq3_PhXAKiHQU7VnL-elRzSlowDLQTbyiMDobQ61jIp3kEhCUv_kA6fe1AZAbVlnXMW1Q_bAeN6UZN_IORd9GHEwz24-4/s1600/Market+Place+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJIcj4Zr1TiMtOjS98tzHfbTtJJPJGUpZ5aCvscqp_BbktX1Dq3_PhXAKiHQU7VnL-elRzSlowDLQTbyiMDobQ61jIp3kEhCUv_kA6fe1AZAbVlnXMW1Q_bAeN6UZN_IORd9GHEwz24-4/s400/Market+Place+2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Then we have the Library off the Ropery (Mind the bus)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiH26nS1IcwcXsXx_NBrvitVfyN1zQpDk10mUhGLBdpPYedXcUxMRt3Jy1WnQhCQXiHs9RVX0qcmHNaJvs-Z-ejQpdZw7dOWkmapm2Q2rx6aefMWkw8D8Ot9Ab-eo_XyYe203V37YSgPQk/s1600/Library.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiH26nS1IcwcXsXx_NBrvitVfyN1zQpDk10mUhGLBdpPYedXcUxMRt3Jy1WnQhCQXiHs9RVX0qcmHNaJvs-Z-ejQpdZw7dOWkmapm2Q2rx6aefMWkw8D8Ot9Ab-eo_XyYe203V37YSgPQk/s400/Library.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Then we have the house that sits opposite the HSBC bank<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1w-Gp_6py8XHhlyRfQwSGGovSgoOZ2PjkrS5-aGjP0YVMzM9wL5KjcP-n-fKvjrfqOIUtWXA5j6P6Nlz66KFHcDNPdWub4yIHczMf57EzrGQL5aZZ2Oy7BBbogrCPh7MTw07TQXAcD6o/s1600/House.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1w-Gp_6py8XHhlyRfQwSGGovSgoOZ2PjkrS5-aGjP0YVMzM9wL5KjcP-n-fKvjrfqOIUtWXA5j6P6Nlz66KFHcDNPdWub4yIHczMf57EzrGQL5aZZ2Oy7BBbogrCPh7MTw07TQXAcD6o/s400/House.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Followed by the tea Shop at Beckside<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifotc0vjR9CdxKbukdrlCVW-ysnrKMYZQyxoW-b80EUrIHRFQ636FRpf-PUfZcrPBDPM1k92zoYzXL-x8wJ1oLb0jATzs3FnHcNSc-qki4Nsz6wRnaDKvXZEQ96iAO_fwy350QF-l2ju4/s1600/beckside.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifotc0vjR9CdxKbukdrlCVW-ysnrKMYZQyxoW-b80EUrIHRFQ636FRpf-PUfZcrPBDPM1k92zoYzXL-x8wJ1oLb0jATzs3FnHcNSc-qki4Nsz6wRnaDKvXZEQ96iAO_fwy350QF-l2ju4/s400/beckside.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The Rose pub a little further along Bridge Street<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSpaNW1xEg8OcyqmE3x3f0rBYjdB6GXGYxGCiNV2RrVMyrWWYCgrd4OOwLPF8mb2dDA-g-iy7-tvauwbSy7ZLoLiNHWaTo7Up-WjYcPBCd_AXzDF5FxWP9My_cFkOyvMCmEs7ef21jiSo/s1600/the+rose.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSpaNW1xEg8OcyqmE3x3f0rBYjdB6GXGYxGCiNV2RrVMyrWWYCgrd4OOwLPF8mb2dDA-g-iy7-tvauwbSy7ZLoLiNHWaTo7Up-WjYcPBCd_AXzDF5FxWP9My_cFkOyvMCmEs7ef21jiSo/s400/the+rose.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Made some tweaks to the Mulberries on the opposite side of the road<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOp9YeGzxy7UC-cCbgR1FcCouHddnc-jvVMeOCTFyOXPZatQJSqBmxLVEtwdf9I0NBGc4wgwszvp2_csEeG1mtG1dW4vHqz_O-N_TN6wy8ICF7GCwnyhyphenhyphenxDbTa7T5crS9rcQ3Khj3Kxy8/s1600/the+Mulberries.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOp9YeGzxy7UC-cCbgR1FcCouHddnc-jvVMeOCTFyOXPZatQJSqBmxLVEtwdf9I0NBGc4wgwszvp2_csEeG1mtG1dW4vHqz_O-N_TN6wy8ICF7GCwnyhyphenhyphenxDbTa7T5crS9rcQ3Khj3Kxy8/s400/the+Mulberries.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
And started to make some lights that stand around the station. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-5pi6ASmJd8OlH3sJqEMZWwtt9rqyPYikJQiCpRonYUTHZF7tYDMzQBm8AtfjtXudjnfGX9J-ZAdGHM8M1SLSs7EP6cgoQRivE9dfgQOObjuWuyqBrWlroxRcNXNhNbbHhNj10G8eBsE/s1600/light.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="321" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-5pi6ASmJd8OlH3sJqEMZWwtt9rqyPYikJQiCpRonYUTHZF7tYDMzQBm8AtfjtXudjnfGX9J-ZAdGHM8M1SLSs7EP6cgoQRivE9dfgQOObjuWuyqBrWlroxRcNXNhNbbHhNj10G8eBsE/s400/light.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
These need a bit of work yet and I also need to learn how to make them light up when it gets dark.<br />
<br />
Phew. Well. that was my Christmas and New year. Hope you had a good one too.<br />

<br />
I think I will have a look at the HSBC Bank next on the other corner of the street.<br />

<br />
It has suddenly struck me that I haven't actually posted any pics from railworks on here.<br />
<br />
As you will see I have completed Pickering railway station (although I keep tinkering) and some of the railway buildings nearby.<br />

I have also included some of the grass and concrete areas either side of the river to help when it come to landscaping in railworks. <br />
<br />
I still have to get round the problem with traffic on my roads. Still running it with the original road surface just underneath my model. (but that's for another day).</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

<strong></strong><br />
I am currently experimenting with the roads around Pickering. <br />
I am not happy with the roads that come with the railworks program and wondered if I could actually build a model of the roads and footpaths near to the station to make it look more authentic. Initial tests seem to look ok. I am not sure yet how to get the cars running on the model. In tests I have simply moved the default road underneath the model surface but that is not ideal as it shows through when you zoom out to get the birds eye view. Perhaps I will be able to make a new road blueprint from the current ones but have the road surface invisible. We shall see.Andyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07572805807541124681noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6544367641011567276.post-69812062595246930322011-11-12T16:38:00.000-08:002011-11-12T17:04:35.928-08:00Before the Blog<strong>So what have I done before the blog</strong>.<br />
<br />
I have pretty much learned the basics of creating a route in Railworks, I have decided that the route I'm going to model is the NYMR and I have started the process, importing the landscape, laying the track and attempted a few models of the buildings at Pickering railway station. I have made my intentions public by posting on the excellent <a href="http://uktrainsim.com/" target="_blank">UKTrainSim</a> Website and got some positive responses.<br />
<br />
I am also starting to build some of the houses that are outside the railway station. Not sure how many I will do but I'm guessing it will just be the main street outside and the one that crosses it. The rest of the houses/shops will be from the UKTS Freeware packs.Andyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07572805807541124681noreply@blogger.com0
