Railworks NYMR
A journey of discovery as I, a complete beginner, get to grips with building the world famous North Yorkshire Moors Railway in the railworks simulator. Using 3D Crafter, Google Sketchup, Paintshop Pro and of course railworks.

Its been a while since my last update so here goes.
We are still in Pickering. Been there for a visit and to take hundreds of Photos on 2 occasions over the last week or two. So how about the Sim.
Things were delayed a bit due to a reinstall of windows on my computer but luckily nothing was lost, (Backups are a great thing aren't they). I have pretty much completed the detailed models on Bridge Street with the exception of Beck Isle Museum which is work in progress. I still intend to build some low detail models for houses and the church which are further away.Below you can see Memorial Hall and the war memorial. I decided it was important that users were able to read the names on the war memorial.
Park street carries on. I guess I'm about three quarters the way along but the end is in sight. (Well it is if I strain to look round the slight bend in the road. Here are some shots.
I' also added a bit more lighting and street side accessories. Below you can see an odd shaped lamp post which I must have walked past a million times and never noticed the kink.
I have started to add street clutter and make some of the signs. they are still in development so I will upload those pics at a later date.
That's it for now.

Texture Sizes
Just started the process of retexturing all of my models so far. I hadnt realised that the should all be sized to the power of 2. ie 1,2,4,8,16,32,64,128,256,512,1024 or 2048.
Damn.
Damn.

HSBC and Shops
Its been a while since I last posted an update but progress continues even if its a a rather slow rate. Still in Pickering, my latest efforts have concentrated on Market place, Bridge Street and The Ropery. Below are a few images of the new buildings in railwoks.
Firstly is the HSBC Bank which sits on the corner.
Then we have the adjoining shops on Market Place
Then we have the Library off the Ropery (Mind the bus)
Then we have the house that sits opposite the HSBC bank
Followed by the tea Shop at Beckside
The Rose pub a little further along Bridge Street
Made some tweaks to the Mulberries on the opposite side of the road
And started to make some lights that stand around the station.
These need a bit of work yet and I also need to learn how to make them light up when it gets dark.
Phew. Well. that was my Christmas and New year. Hope you had a good one too.

New buildings added
Mulberries and other buildings
Just added the Mulberries buildings from Bridge street as well as the Travel Agents, Fortune Inn and other houses on Park Street. (Images below.)
I think I will have a look at the HSBC Bank next on the other corner of the street.
That's it for now.

So far in Railworks.
View from Railworks.
It has suddenly struck me that I haven't actually posted any pics from railworks on here.
As you will see I have completed Pickering railway station (although I keep tinkering) and some of the railway buildings nearby.
That's it for now.
